WHAT MAKES SOMEONE ACTIVELY VOLUNTEER FOR GOODWILL OVER 62 YEARS?
“The Clients! It was very touching to see the clients’ desire to do something with their lives, the joy they had coming to the plant and pride they felt in their accomplish-ments. That’s what has inspired me to continue my support for Goodwill.” ...Tina Schiewe

What the Juniors have done…. Over its 75 years of existence, the Junior Group has worked hard to raise over three million dollars for the Detroit Goodwill. They have purchased all types of equipment to enhance and expand the various programs, as well as the facility. The Santa Shop at Christmas involves purchasing, assisting client’s selection and wrapping new toys for their children. Sight impaired clients benefit from a week-end “Ski for Light” sponsored by the group.
|
|
Why they do it…. They believe in the mission to help people with barriers find employment. It is gratifying to be part of a team and see an individual’s self esteem improve when they can provide for their families. The fulfillment comes when these clients relate their stories of where they came from and where they are now.

The Juniors truly believe in the “Power of Work” for the trainees and for themselves. |
